Ruins

...for April

In the valleys of my restless mind
dwell memories that are never more--
memories more unto dreams, of forgotten
eldritch things that haunt dreary plains
beneath dying moon...
and yet, these are not dreams--
but forsaken, consummative violations
of lonely graves...
What seek I there?
Only answers to that
which compels me to search desolate mountains
and crawl amongst moldering graves better left
untouched and unseen...
Here, are lonely winds crying among
shattered columns, silent obelisks receiving
only the cold supplications of dying dreams...
Here, are memories wailing--seeking form,
substance, reality--but finding only shadow
beneath the leaden moon...
Here, are memories that once were but
never to be; memories of forgotten eldritch
things that haunt dreary plains beneath
dying moon--

in the valleys of my restless mind;
the haunted, hollow valleys of my restless mind...
