Color Pickers
Java Colour Picker
- The Java Colour Picker by ABCtec uses a Java GUI with slide bars and arrows to display the color and the RGB coding needed for HTML "COLOR="#rrbbgg" statements.
- A comprehensive list of the RGB color indices for WWW items. Color names are listed next to their RGB values; clicking on the name displays a sample of the color.
Clip Art and Animated Gifs
- The Pickture Gallery by ABCtec provides a comprehensive collection of clip art and animated gifs. Categories include animals, animations, arrows, backgrounds, balls, bars, holidays, letters, music, office, and much more - and a search engine for their collection.
- Links to animated gifs, Gif construction kits, viewers, and much much more.
- An excellent source for very original and good animated gifs as well as many links to many more web design, resource, and tool sites.
- Whimsical and very good art work that Shawn has created for inclusion on your pages
Fonts
- Windows. True Type fonts including: Hollow, Old West, Fancy Script, Calligraphy, Handwriting, Non-Roman, Novelty, Dingbats, and more.
Graphics Tools
- DOS/Windows. This is a commercial site that provides evaluation shareware downloads of each of its products, including Graphic Workshop for Windows and for DOS, Gif Construction Set for Windows, Application Animator, and more.
- More good tools for graphics image work - this also is a commercial site that provides evaluation downloads of each of its products. Again, the asking price is worth it.
Guest Books
- The Lpage Guest Book is free in exchange for you accepting their advertising banner in your guest book. Accepts and formats HTML from guests.
- This, as far as I am concerned, is the best guestbook server around. Paradise does charge a one-time fee of $10.00 US, but that is after a 30-day free trial. Paradise also provides an online message forum for your pages, a counter, chat services, and a Traffic Builder Banner service. Accepts and formats HTML from guests.
- The Spin Guest Book is free in exchange for you accepting their advertising banner in your guest book. Accepts and formats HTML from guests.
- The Toast Guest Book is free in exchange for you accepting their advertising banner in your guest book. Does NOT accept and format HTML from guests.
HTML
- Pages full of tips, tricks, and links to tools, covering everything from how to make gif backgrounds transparent to which HTML cookbooks are good.
- The WebMan's web design guidelines and pointers are excellent; Charlie, the author, provides step-by-step instructions for effects such as shadowing, neon, mirroring, and more.
Java
- You can get more than just Java applets and applications here: Jef Poskanzer also does "Anything from designing simple web pages to installing ultra-high-performance HTTP servers to building complex graphics-intensive user interfaces in Java or X. Specific areas of expertise: Unix (C, TCP/IP, X, Motif), Web (HTML, CGI, Java, HTTP), Graphics (image file formats, PostScript), and so on."

- Softseek provides a good list of Java applets as well as a search engine and programming information for other languages.
Search Engines
- Submit your site for free in up to five different categories either locally or globally, and be able to search for it immediately.
Music
- "Enhancing the Web with Music." Listen to Midi music with wave table synthesis and add MIDI music to your web pages - or even streaming midi (for a nominal fee); link to CD Universe for the "most music, the best prices" on CDs, Tapes, Videos, and more.
Unix
- In their own words: "TheCAT is the Computer Action Team, a gleefully exuberant band of computer addicts that work on the systems in the CS and EE departments [at Portland State University]. Their fiendish skills have also been contracted to provide UNIX workstation support elsewhere on campus as well."
